Dear Father:
Your letter of April 4th received yesterday and the one you wrote February 21st I just received a few days ago. I think I have gotten all the letters you have written me.
I suppose you are reading quite a lot about the war. Things are rather quiet here lately. This part of the country is very pretty. The trees are all leaved out and the grass is nearly a foot high. I understand that the government does not issue a policy for the insurance, but I think it will be all right as they notified our office that my application had been received and the $6.60 has been deducted from my pay each month.
Have you received the Stars and Stripes? I subscribed to have it sent to you some time ago. It is published by the A.E.F. and is a good paper.
Did you buy any Liberty Bonds? Well, I will have to write to Mae [sister] so will close.
This leaves us both well, from your Son,
